Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the school closing? The business of operating an accredited academic institution is both rewarding and challenging. Knowing that you are impacting the careers and lives of so many can make the business of education incredibly fulfilling. However, being able to ensure that the business also thrives is an important aspect of offering education to so many. We have decided to close DFA because we are not able to ensure a sustainable long-term business plan for the academic institution.
What is the plan to ensure DFA students are well cared for throughout their remaining studies? All DFA students and alumni will continue to receive support from CompTIA. For students currently engaged in coursework, each will be assigned a Student Advisor who will help create and provide an education plan and timeline. Advisors will be available during normal business operating hours through May 31, 2024, when all current students will have graduated. After May 31, 2024, all students will be able to receive support through CompTIA’s Customer Success portal – access information will be shared when we get closer to the closure date.
As a current DFA student, what if I cannot complete my studies and coursework prior to the final graduation date on April 29, 2024?Every DFA student will be assigned a Student Advisor who will help create and provide an education plan and timeline in the first several months following the closure announcement. We expect that during this time we will be able to create a mutually agreeable plan to ensure that you are able to complete your studies and coursework before the April 29, 2024, timeline. Should there be a need for additional coursework beyond the capabilities of DFA, your Student Advisor will help coordinate with an alternative academic institution as we are able.
Why did CompTIA choose to close DFA so shortly after acquiring the school in 2022?As part of its strategic objectives, CompTIA sought to engage in all types of training over the past several years. Not only did we launch into the accredited academic business, but we also invested heavily in B2C online training as well as custom training for employer and workforce development partners. After evaluating progress with all three training models, we have concluded that the latter two – online and partnerships – were more aligned with our priorities and capabilities.
As a DFA alumni, how do I get a copy of my transcripts?Alumni support will be available through DFA Student Advisor, Michael Venzor, at [email protected] or (917) 819-1754. DFA staff will be here to support you until May 31, 2024. After that time, CompTIA Customer Success will be here to support you – access information will be shared when we get closer to the closure date.
As a current DFA student, who do I contact to register for classes in the next term? The great news is that nothing changes – you simply register for your classes as you would have done in your prior term(s). If you find that you need assistance or have a special circumstance that needs to be addressed, please contact the DFA Student Advisor, Michael Venzor, at [email protected] or (917) 819-1754. DFA staff will be here to support you through your graduation and until May 31, 2024.
