Overview

HTML – Hyper Text Mark Up Language is the core technology that makes the web possible.

Hypertext Markup Language or HTML, is the markup language that is used to create web pages. It constitutes the building blocks of all websites and is considered a cornerstone technology together with CSS and Javascript, that is widely used to create user interfaces for web and mobile applications and visually appealing pages of websites.

The function of HTML is to describe the structure of a website so that web browsers can read the files and translate them into visible web pages. HTML, being a markup language, only describes the semantics of websites combined with cues for presentation such as headings, paragraphs, links, lists, quotes and many other different items. HTML can also be used to embed images and objects in the website design to create a more interactive outcome.

HTML was created by Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the Internet. Since its conception in the early 90’s, HTML has evolved substantially. Its current form, used worldwide to create webpages from scratch, is HTML5.

HTML5 is the fifth revision of the markup language and was published in October 2014. It aims to support the latest multimedia and make it easily readable by both humans and computers.

It has not just replaced its predecessor HTML4 but also XHTML as the standard language used to create web pages.

For anyone who wishes to learn web development or simply wants to learn how to make a static website, having thorough knowledge of HTML5 is essential.

At Code Immersive we have divided the language learning process into manageable lessons that can be easily understood, followed and practiced by anyone
